It's common knowledge that battery hens have a really hard life. But, did you know that due to feather loss, the lucky ones who are rescued from this pitiful life never acclimatize to the weather conditions they will face as a free range bird? Nicola Congdon and her mother Ann, who live in Falmouth in Cornwall, England, own about 60 hens! All of their hens are ex-battery birds, accustomed to barely surviving in cramped cages. Because the women were worried about them getting cold, now that they're free to run around outside, they kind-heartedly went ahead and knitted the hens their very own tiny sweaters! Take a look!
